Pillion riding banned on 9th, 10th Muharram in Punjab

The government of Punjab has banned pillion riding on motorcycles throughout the province on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
The decision has been taken in view of the security situation on the eve of Ashura. However, old men, women, children and members of the law enforcement agencies will be exempted from this ban.
The Home Department has issued the notification regarding the pillion riding ban.
The Home Department has directed the Punjab police to ensure the strict enforcement of the pillion riding ban during the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
It may be mentioned here that the Muharram moon has been sighted on Thursday and the 9th and 10th Muharram will fall on August 29 and 30.
