Rs1.80 per unit increase in power tariff sought
Power tariff will reach its new heights as the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed an application to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for increasing electricity tariff by Rs1.80 per unit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
The tariff increase has been requested on account of monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for the electricity.
The new revised tariff price will put an additional burden of Rs10 billion on consumers.
The CPPA said in its application to NEPRA that most expensive electricity was generated at the rate of Rs12.27 per unit of worth Rs7.56 billion in January.
The TV channel reported that the power generation cost was Rs47.41 billion while fuel cost on electricity generation was Rs6.26 per unit.
