Brutal brawl at Royal Ascot sets internet ablaze

A glamorous day of racing, champagne, and sunshine at Royal Ascot took an ugly turn as a violent brawl erupted between two sharply dressed men, shocking onlookers at the prestigious Berkshire event.

A  video shows the suited duo viciously throwing punches at each other before one was knocked to the ground, blood pouring from his face. Horrified racegoers watched in disbelief as a small group of men rushed in, shouting “Stop, stop, boys!” in an attempt to break up the chaos.

The man in a grey suit was dragged away from the scuffle, while the bloodied participant, dressed in cream, staggered to his feet and wiped his face, smearing blood onto his trousers. Despite the injuries, the visibly shaken man continued yelling and gesturing at his former opponent.

The altercation, which unfolded amid crowds enjoying the sunny 28°C weather, has prompted a police investigation. A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police confirmed:

“We are aware of the incident and are investigating. We urge anyone who recognises the individuals or has footage to contact us at 101 quoting reference 43250306653 or report online. Information can also be shared anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.”

 This is not the first time Royal Ascot has been marred by alcohol-fuelled violence. A similar brawl broke out last year, resulting in another racegoer being left bloodied and restrained by fellow attendees.

Despite the violent scenes, most of the event maintained its traditional flair. Guests, including King Charles III and Queen Camilla, arrived in horse-drawn carriages, joined by dignitaries and celebrities such as JK Rowling and Lord Lloyd-Webber. Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall were also seen warmly greeting each other and the monarch.

Fashion was in full display, with revellers donning extravagant hats and bright dresses. Attendees sipped champagne and enjoyed picnics, though some clearly overindulged in the heat.

On the track, Time For Sandals claimed victory in the Commonwealth Cup for jockey Richard Kingscote, while Venetian Sun won the Albany Stakes, delivering an impressive performance despite not being the favourite.

Although the fourth day of Ascot provided drama both on and off the racetrack, the scenes of violence cast a shadow over what is traditionally one of the most elegant dates on the British social calendar.
