Govt restores previous speed limits on motorways, highways

The government has restored the previous speed limits on motorways and national highways after lifting temporary restrictions that had been imposed due to safety concerns and specific operational conditions, 24NewsHD TV reported.

According to a spokesperson for the Motorway Police, the speed limit for cars and other light vehicles on motorways has been reinstated at 120 kilometres per hour.

Similarly, the speed limit for passenger buses and heavy transport vehicles has been restored to 110 kilometres per hour.

The spokesperson explained that the reduction in speed limits had been introduced as a temporary measure in view of particular circumstances and safety considerations.

However, with conditions returning to normal, authorities have decided to reinstate the original speed limits.

The Motorway Police urged motorists to continue observing traffic regulations and adhere strictly to the prescribed speed limits to ensure road safety.

The spokesperson also advised drivers to remain vigilant, maintain control of their vehicles, and wear seat belts at all times while travelling.
