Ogra asked to raise gas prices

Sui Northern and Sui Southern gas companies have requested the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to increase the prices of gas from July 1 —next financial year —- and demanded billions of rupees to overcome the revenue shortfall, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The proposal is to raise the price of gas for Punjab, Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by Rs857.40 per MBBTU and for Sindh and Balochistan by Rs109.78 per MMBTU.

The SNGPL has shown a total revenue shortfall of Rs71.20 billion and last year's revenue shortage was Rs254.10 billion, while SSGPL has shown a revenue shortfall of Rs35 billion.

The SNGPL has demanded Rs27.94 billion for LNG provided to domestic consumers while SSGPL has demanded Rs16.71 billion for LNG service to the consumers.

The Ogra said the concerned citizens and consumers can submit their opinions in 14 days against these SSGPL and SSGPL suggestions.
