Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) ordered to release Chetan Kohli, who spent 17 years in imprisonment for killing the resident of Sanghar named Danu with a chopper in 2004, out of personal resentments, reported 24NewsHD TV.
The apex court acquitted the convicted Chetan Kohli on the basis of lack of evidence.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood gave the decision of releasing Chetan from the prison.
Sadiq Baloch, the lawyer of the convicted, said that the accused confessed the murder because the police tortured Chetan during the investigation.
According to Sadiq, “Trial court and the high court ignored the facts in the past”.
Sadiq further said that the trial court sentenced Chetan Kohli to death and the Sindh High Court (SHC) upheld the decision of the trial court.
