Ushna’s stance to stop encouraging COUSIN ROMANCE has invited mixed reactions

One of Pakistan’s most opinionated stars, Ushna Shah has taken to her social media handle and raised awareness regarding an issue that seems to have been getting massive recognition in Pakistani dramas.

Ushna has lately talked about the need to stop encouraging cousin romance (cousin marriages) in Pakistani projects. If you are someone who likes to watch Pakistani dramas, you must be well aware that cousin marriages are quite commonly showcased and the portrayal of such concepts might be giving rise to real cousin marriages taking place in the nation.

However, Ushna mentions in her note: “Generations of cousin marriages have resulted in countless health issues and birth defects in children such as thalassemia and learning disabilities. Let’s take this seriously.”

This particular gesture of Ushna Shah’s has been garnering mixed reactions over social media.

While many are supporting Ushna’s stance, there are quite a lot of internet users who have totally rejected the authenticity of Ushna’s statement.

A social media user stated: “Totally agree with you. The way children are encouraged to ‘romanticize’ this abnormal tradition from a young age is sad.”
