CTD arrests one terrorist in Karachi

Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Karachi has arrested one terrorist while conducting an intelligence-based operation in Clifton and its adjacent areas, the 24NewsTV channel reported on Monday.  

According to sources, the alleged terrorist identified as Mumtaz Ali son of Ijaz-ul-Nabi Soomro belonged to a banned terrorist organization- Sindhudesh Liberation Army. 

One IED remote control bomb fully prepared has been recovered from his possession, the sources added. 

The accused disclosed in the initial interrogation that Shahnawaz Bhutto gave him two targets in Karachi at the request of defunct Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) Commander Asghar Shah alias Sajjad Shah.

“The first target was Chinatown Restaurant Clifton and the second one to target the Chinese workers at the CPEC Ibrahim Haidari Project. 

According to the CTD officials, the arrested man was going to detonate a number of IED bombs by remote control towards his target Chinatown restaurant. But the lawmen arrested him in a park near China Town Restaurant. 

The law enforcement personnel succeeded in thwarting a plan to target a Chinatown restaurant. 

According to the CTD officials, further important revelations are expected in the investigation.
