MCC changes term batsman to batter

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has abolished the term "batsman" and “batsmen” and adopted a gender-neutral term 'batter' instead, reported 24NewsHD TV on Wednesday.
The MCC emphasised using the word “batter” and “batters”, rather using the batsman and batsmen. According to Jamie Cox, MCC assistant secretary, the use of gender-neutral terms would help make cricket a holistic sport.
It is to be noted that this new rule is only applicable to the word “batsman” and “batsmen”. However, MCC didn't make reference to other cricketing terms and positions which have constitute the word “man” including “nightwatchman” and “third man.”
