Lawyer’s request to put off case hearing irks IHC judge

Expressing indignation over the request made by a lawyer for an adjournment of the hearing of the petition filed against the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, on Monday said it saddened him when any lawyer requested the adjournment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He said he was at a loss to understand as to why lawyers and judges did not want to do work. “I feel ashamed of myself. I even want to fine the court,” he said, adding, “Already, hearing of the petition has been adjourned 20 times.”
However, later, he adjourned the hearing at the lawyer’s request.
