PML-N AJK parliamentary party reaffirms commitment to Kashmir cause

The parliamentary party of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Sunday reaffirmed its commitment to the development of the region, supremacy of the Constitution and law, and restoration of merit and justice.

The resolution was adopted at a meeting of the PML-N AJK Parliamentary Party held on August 23 under the chairmanship of party president and parliamentary leader Shah Ghulam Qadir.

According to the resolution, the parliamentary party reiterated its commitment to taking all possible practical measures for the development of AJK in line with the vision of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

The meeting also reaffirmed its commitment to the ideology of accession to Pakistan, stating that "Kashmir will become Pakistan."

The parliamentary party expressed full support for the measures taken by the Pakistan Armed Forces under the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir against internal and external threats. It also expressed satisfaction over what it described as Pakistan's growing acceptance at the international level.

The resolution said the next government would make efforts to improve law and order in AJK and formulate a comprehensive policy for public welfare. It also called for the revival of stalled development projects in the region.

The meeting expressed confidence in the electoral process in AJK and congratulated the Chief Election Commissioner and administration on what it described as the successful conduct of the elections.

The parliamentary party also expressed concern over the situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and called on the international community to take notice of alleged human rights violations and war crimes there.

The resolution criticised India's decision to revoke the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir in 2019, describing it as a violation of United Nations and Security Council resolutions.

The meeting paid tribute to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their struggle and sacrifices and appreciated Pakistan's political, moral and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination.

The PML-N AJK Parliamentary Party also rejected remarks on Kashmir attributed to the US ambassador to India and called for the Kashmir dispute to be resolved in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.
