Salman Khan condemns violence, backs students fighting for education reforms

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has voiced his support for students protesting against India's ongoing examination controversy, applauding their peaceful movement for educational reforms while expressing concern over the violence that followed.

Taking to his Instagram handle, the actor shared a photo of himself dressed in a school uniform and posted a heartfelt message in solidarity with students demanding justice after the alleged NEET examination paper leak and other irregularities that have sparked nationwide protests.

"It was such a peaceful movement, feel so sad that it had to take a violent turn. My heart goes out to the students and their families who were hurt," Salman wrote.

Calling paper leaks a serious issue, the actor praised students for uniting in pursuit of a fair and transparent education system.

"I truly appreciate the stand they have taken, showing dedication, sincerity, and keenness to study hard and make their future and a greater, educated India. This protest is the right way to go about it, and the students have done this peacefully. So courageous and brave," he added.

Salman also urged people not to politicize the issue, emphasizing that the movement belongs solely to students.

"This issue is between the students and the educational system. It should not be hijacked politically. The credit should only go to the students of our country. I am sure the government will also support them and make the educational system stronger."

The actor concluded his note by expressing hope that education would become India's biggest priority.

"Education should be the next trend and fashion. so much so that people from around the world come to India to study, and India becomes an educational hub."

It is worthy to mention that Salman's statement comes at a time when students across India have been staging protests over alleged examination irregularities, including the reported NEET paper leak and concerns about transparency in competitive entrance exams. The issue has triggered widespread demonstrations led by students and youth groups, who are demanding accountability, stricter safeguards against paper leaks, and comprehensive reforms to the country's examination system.
