Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that India must not be allowed to use the FATF platform for political motives and it would now be inappropriate to put Pakistan on a further gray list anymore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

“If we want to hang the sword, then this is another matter but we want Pakistan to get out of the gray list and be in the white list,” the Foreign Minister said in a statement.

Shah Mehmood said that the world is acknowledging that no concrete steps have been taken by any government before and Pakistan has done its best to get out from the FATF gray list.

“Pakistan was on the gray list before this government came to power and we inherited the ‘gift’ of the gray list,” Shah Mehmood Qureshi further said.

“The Prime Minister contacted the leadership of different countries and Pakistan took important decisions keeping in view the international opinion and national interest,” the Foreign Minister said.

Global terror financing watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF) will be deciding about Pakistan’s status at the plenary session that began on Monday. Pakistan was put on the grey list by the Paris-based FATF in June 2018 and the country took a number of measures to come out of it.
