Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has decided not to appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Rawalpindi’s investigation team in Rawalpindi Metro Bus reference, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Sources told 24News TV channel that Shehbaz Sharif was presently in Lahore and Ata Tarar, PML-N leader and his counsel, who would appear before the NAB team on his behalf, would hand it over a copy of the questionnaire sent to his client.
Shehbaz is facing charges of awarding a contract of the metro bus to PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal’s brother Mustafa Kamal in violation of the PEPRA Rules so much so that even Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) officials do not have with them the documents pertaining to the contract.
The anti-corruption watchdog had, on August 21, summoned Shehbaz on August 24 for questioning in connection with awarding a contract for the Rawalpindi Metro Bus project.
It is to be noted that the PML-N president was earlier asked to appear before the NAB in the same inquiry, but he did not show up.
