Sarhad Varsity staffer’s husband arrested for resorting to fire during student protest

An incident of aerial firing occurred near Sarhad University located at T-Chowk in Islamabad, prompting law enforcement personnel to take swift action. Husband of a staff member, who belonged to a sensitive agency, was taken into custody after he opened fire during a student protest on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Students were staging a protest regarding fee issue when the accused arrived at the university to pick up his wife.

An argument broke out between the accused's wife and the protesting students.

Enraged by the heated argument with the students, the accused opened fire in the air.

Following reports of the incident, a heavy police contingent rushed to the university.

After successful negotiations between the university administration and the students, the accused was handed over to the police. Later, the students peacefully called off their protest.
