Taylor Swift celebrates 14th No.1 single as Opalite tops charts
US pop diva Taylor Swift is celebrating a major career milestone after earning her 14th number-one single, marking her first time in over a decade that two songs from the same album have topped the charts.
The 36 year old pop powerhouse took to Instagram this week to share her excitement after her latest single Opalite climbed to the summit of the Billboard Hot 100.
According to Swift, the achievement is particularly special because it is the first time since her 2014 album 1989 that she has scored multiple No.1 hits from a single record.
Her latest studio project, The Life of a Showgirl, released last October, has now produced two chart-toppers. The Fate of Ophelia previously reached No.1 on the Billboard Global 200, while Opalite recently surged to the top of the Hot 100 and secured a strong position globally.
With her 14th chart-topper, Swift now ties with Rihanna for the third-most No.1 singles among female artists. The all time Billboard Hot 100 record remains with The Beatles, followed by Mariah Carey.
In her celebratory post, Swift shared candid, makeup free clips from early recording sessions alongside longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback. The videos offered fans a glimpse into the songwriting process, from shaping melodies to fine tuning lyrics.
She also posted behind the scenes moments from the Opalite music video, which features cameo appearances from stars including Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner Smith, Lewis Capaldi and Cillian Murphy.
The concept was inspired by her appearance on The Graham Norton Show last year, where she was joined by several of the same celebrities.
According to Swift, she was blown away by fan support and described herself as “Bouncing off the walls” over the milestone. She thanked listeners for embracing the song and helping it reach the top spot.
The achievement adds another record to Swift’s already decorated résumé, reinforcing her staying power in an industry where chart dominance is constantly shifting.
