Swat emerges the most visited tourist destination on Eid 

Swat Valley emerged as the most visited destination as more than 262,000 tourists travelled to scenic areas across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, officials said.

According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority, over 101,420 tourists visited various sites on March 21 and 22 alone, including 27 foreign visitors, indicating growing international interest in the province’s natural attractions.

Swat Valley remained the top destination, receiving more than 58,000 tourists in the first two days of Eid. The influx continued throughout the three-day holiday, with total visitors to the valley exceeding 186,000, said Director General Usman Mehsud.

The Galiyat region also saw significant tourist activity, attracting 30,450 visitors in the initial two days and reaching a total of 51,886 by the end of the holidays.

Other popular destinations included Naran Kaghan, which recorded a notable influx, while lesser-explored destinations such as Kalash Valley and Garam Chashma collectively received 3,509 visitors. Kumrat Valley also drew around 3,400 tourists during the period.

In total, 76 foreign tourists were recorded visiting different areas of the province during Eid, reflecting the increasing global appeal of Pakistan’s northern regions.

Authorities maintained strict monitoring of tourist activities, with police and district administrations ensuring safety and order. Tourism Police personnel remained on duty throughout the holidays after their leave was cancelled to facilitate visitors.

Officials said the surge in tourist numbers highlights the growing popularity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a travel destination, attributing the trend to improved infrastructure, enhanced security, and better visitor services.
