Shehbaz tries to win back PPP, ANP into PDM
PML-N President and Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Shehbaz Sharif would try to lure back Pakistan People’s Party and Awami National Party into the folds of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in a bid to dislodge the PTI regime, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Monday.
According to sources, the opposition leader in National Assembly would kick start his reconciliatory mission later today (Monday) with a dinner to be hosted at his residence in honour of the PDM members.
Pakistan People’s Party will also participate in the dinner. PPP leaders including former prime ministers Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf and former speaker NA Sherry Rehman will attend the luncheon.
Since PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is in Dubai so his chances to attend the luncheon are pretty slim.
The ANP has also accepted Shehbaz’s invite and its parliamentary leader Amir Haider Hoti will attend the luncheon.
JUI (F) President Maulana Fazlur Rehman will not attend the luncheon. However, Asad Mehmood would represent the Maulana.
The political situation will be discussed during the dinner. The agenda also includes stopping rhetoric against the state institutions and sending the government packing.
The leaders will also discuss bringing around all the opposition parties to one platform in order to table a no-confidence motion against the government.
Sources said that Balochistan National Party President Sardar Akhtar Mengal would not participate in the dinner as the Baloch leader has gone abroad for medical treatment. The 3-member group of BNP comprising Dr Jehanzeb Jamaldini, Senator Qasim Ronjho and Agha Hassan Baloch would attend the dinner.
Sources informed that PML-N President Shehbaz wanted the return of the PPP and ANP in the PDM. He has already started consultation with JUI-F leader Maulana Fazl in this regard, sources said and added that the PML-N wanted to revive PDM in its original form.
It will be decided in the meeting which resolution would be brought forward first; resolution to remove Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar or no-trust resolution against Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar.
All parliamentary leaders of PDM will participate in the dinner.
The parliamentary leaders will inform their respective central leadership regarding the deliberations of the meeting.
