A would-be suicide bomber was shot dead when he tried to force his entry into a CTD police station in Lahore on Tuesday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Security officials foiled the terrorist attack on Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station on Burki Road in the provincial capital by killing the would-be suicide bomber at its gate.
The terrorist tried to enter the police station but was stopped by the policemen posted at its gate and was asked to prove his identity, upon which the suspect opened indiscriminate fire at the security personnel. The terrorist was killed when the security personnel retaliated.
Two hand grenades, a pistol and a suicide jacket were recovered from the terrorist’s body, a CTD spokesman said, adding a search operation is underway in the surrounding areas while the bomb disposal squad has defused the jacket.
The incident will be thoroughly investigated to trace the network behind the attack, he assured.
The alleged terrorist wanted to carry out a suicide attack on the police station, however, timely action by the security officials foiled his plan, the CTD spokesman said.
Earlier on Monday, security forces had busted a major terror module, killing two terrorists during a raid in Bajaur, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
