PTI govt increases sugar prices again

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government Friday increased the price of sugar in retail and ex-mills by 25 paise per kilogram. The government increased sugar prices for the third time in the last two months.

According to the 24News HD TV Channel, the retail price of sugar has been increased from Rs89.50 per kg to Rs89.75 per kg while the ex-mill rate of sugar has been increased from Rs84.50 per kg to Rs84.75 per kg.

Ministry of National Food Security issued notification of new official sugar prices that would be affected from today (Friday).

According to the notification, the new X-Mills rate of sugar including sales tax has been fixed at Rs84.75 per kg and the maximum retail price of sugar has been fixed at Rs89.75 per kg.

The new official sugar prices have been implemented immediately and will remain in force till November 15, 2021. The notification has been sent to all the provincial chief secretaries and commissioners in Islamabad for implementation.

The notification also said that action would be taken against those who sell sugar in excess of the fixed prices.

According to the notification, the affected parties have been given the right to appeal to the Appellate Committee of the Federal Government within three days.
