Amir Liaquat apologises over Hindu deity tweet

PTI MNA from Karachi Aamir Liaquat Husain after becoming the centre of a controversy, finally apologized to Hindu community in Pakistan for using the image of a Hindu deity to mock PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Amir Liaquat shared a screenshot that quoted Maryam as saying: "They (government) will now see a second version of me." And relate Maryam Nawaz quote with the image of a Hindu deity.
A large number of politicians and social media users condemned the PTI lawmaker's post, which he deleted on Wednesday evening.
“I apologize for hurting the feelings of the Hindu community. The purpose was never like that. The tweet has been removed. I respect all religions. These are the teachings of my religion,” television host-turned-politician said in a tweet.

Earlier, Pakistan Hindu Council chief Dr Ramesh Kumar said the lawmaker who claimed to be a religious scholar is uploading insulting material on social media. He demanded strict action against him under the Blasphemy Act.
