155 cops shown the door for refusing Champions Trophy duty

First time in the history, Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Police Operations in Lahore on Tuesday dismissed 115 policemen for refusing to perform duty during ICC Champions Trophy cricket matches at Gaddafi Stadium, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

These policemen remained absent while some of them refused to perform security duty for ICC Champions Trophy, while some policemen used delaying tactics to avoid duty.

The dismissed policemen included Atiq, Zain, Ali, Sheeraz, Shan, Zubair and Adi and others.

Earlier, Punjab Police adopted effective measures to make foolproof security arrangements for the Champions Trophy 2025 matches. 

According to details, 12,564 officers and personnel were deployed for the Champions Trophy matches in Lahore and Rawalpindi. 

Around 7618 policemen including officials and officers will be deployed for matches in Lahore, while 4535 cops will perform duties for matches in Rawalpindi, while 411 officers and personnel of special branch will be appointed during the events in Lahore and Rawalpindi.
