Selected PM will have to go: Bilawal

July 25, 2020 07:59 PM

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Saturday that Imran Khan was a “selected” prime minister and he would have to go.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad to mark the second anniversary of the general elections of July 25, 2018, Bilawal said the last general elections have caused the country the worst damage. He said that Imran has caused the worst damage to the national economy so far. He said that irreparable damage was done to the national economy, democracy and the society under the incumbent government. He said the prime minister was responsible for the damage done to the country by the coronavirus pandemic.

Bilawal said that Imran was “selected” to power to eradicate corruption from the country, but ask people what they have to say about corruption today. He said that worst corruption was being done in Pakistan during Imran’s government. He said that Imran would say he would not give anyone amnesty, but he gave amnesty to people more than any other ruler. He said that those responsible for the delay in completion of the metro bus project in Peshawar were given more projects.

The PPP chairman said the prime minister gave amnesty to every mafia. He said the mafias responsible for fuel and flour crises were given amnesty. He said that Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, who confessed to orchestrating terrorist attacks in Pakistan, was also given amnesty. He said that Imran claimed he would become the ambassador of Kashmir, but he became an advocate for Jadhav. He said the government illegally issued an ordinance to facilitate Jadhav and now it was saying it was not bound to consult the opposition on the issue.

Referring to PTI government’s promises with regard to creating a new province in Punjab, building 5 million houses for the poor, creating 10 million jobs and converting governors’ houses into universities, Bilawal said the prime minister should tell if he has fulfilled any of these promises. He said that Imran has taken a U-turn on all these promises. He said the inspector general of Islamabad Police was transferred just because a wild animal had entered the house of a minister. He said that people in large numbers lost jobs in the PTI government.

Answering a question about opposition political parties' future course of action against the PTI government, Bilawal said that an all parties conference would be held after Eid-ul-Azha to discuss the future line of action. Had there been no coronavirus pandemic in the country, he said, all opposition political parties would have been on the streets by now.
