Women are judged before they are heard, Nazish Jahangir speaks up

Popular Pakistani actress Nazish Jahangir has spoken out about the emotional distress, harassment, and reputational damage she claims to have faced over the past two years. 

Through a series of detailed Instagram stories, the actress addressed issues of rejection, consent, victim blaming, and the societal pressure women often endure when they choose to speak up. 

Taking to her Instagram account, Nazish Jahangir shared a series of heartfelt notes in which she opened up about what she described as an extremely painful and difficult experience spanning over the last two years. In her statement, the actress wrote:

“For the past two years I have been going through almost the same issue an extremely difficult and painful experience. "SPOILED BRATS " who cannot handle rejection. Simply for choosing to say "NO" I have faced harassment, death threats, and continuous attempts to destroy my REPUTATION. It is deeply disturbing how easily some people label women with false accusations like being a "gold digger" or question their character when in reality it is often just a reaction to REJECTION. Instead of accepting a "NO" they choose to attack, threaten, and defame. I have placed my full trust in the law and justice. I chose to fight this battle through proper legal channels because I believe evidence and truth matter more than rumors or false narratives. But one thing must be clear NO means NO. Consent is absolute and non-negotiable under any circumstances. No one has the right to force harass, threaten, or manipulate another person no matter their ego or position.”

Nazish Jahangir also expressed support for actress Momina Iqbal, appreciating her for speaking openly on sensitive matters. She stated: “I deeply respect voices like Momina Iqbal for speaking out because it takes immense strength to break silence in a society where women are often judged before they are heard. Instead of support they are made targets. Instead of justice they are met with doubt.

She wrote in urdu: “Ourat is jaisy mashry main bari mushkil sy izzat banati hai jahan in Jaisy not all but Kuch namard jaiso ki wajha sy chup ho jati hai kyun k ek ourat sy bohat sy rishty jury hoty hain.” (A woman builds her respect and reputation in a society like this with great difficulty, where not all, but because of a few unmanly cowards like them she is forced into silence because many relationships are tied to a woman).

This is not only my story. It is the reality of many women who are forced into silence. But I refuse to be silent. We need accountability, justice, and above all we need to stop normalizing abuse threats, and victim-blaming.
