Arrest warrants for owners of sugar mills

The Punjab cane commission has launched a crackdown on defaulters, it has been learnt reliably.
The commission issued arrest warrants for the owners of two big sugar mills of the province, sources said on Thursday.
The body issued a warrant for Mian Iliyas, owner of Abdullah Sugar Mills in Okara, for being ‘defaulter’ of Rs290 million. Ilyas is stated to be a close aide of former premier Nawaz Sharif.
The second accused is Ganj Shakar Sugar Mills CEO, who owe more than Rs195 million. Reportedly, Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in a probe found seven sugar mills in Sargodha region were defaulters of sugarcane growers.
