Pakistan, Myanmar vow to boost trade, religious tourism

Pakistan and Myanmar have expressed their commitment to expand cooperation across diverse sectors, including religious tourism, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, trade, economy, and science with a view to promoting shared prosperity, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The resolve was expressed during a joint press stakeout by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, Than Swe, following delegation-level talks in Islamabad on Monday.

In his remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister said their discussions remained very productive and comprehensive. He underscored the importance of advancing engagement towards sustained, structured and results-oriented initiatives to advance cooperation in capacity building.

Ishaq Dar said the visit of Myanmar's Foreign Minister to Pakistan reflects the importance that both countries attach to revitalizing and strengthening Pakistan-Myanmar relations. He stressed the need that all contentious issues should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. He also emphasized the importance of further deepening cooperation in academic linkages.

The Deputy Prime Minister said Pakistan and Myanmar enjoy cordial and friendly relations. He said Pakistan greatly values this partnership and remains keen to further enhance the cooperation across a wide range of mutually beneficial fields.

In his remarks, the Foreign Minister of Myanmar thanked the Government of Pakistan for extending warm hospitality during his visit to Islamabad.

Earlier, Pakistan and Myanmar have expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest during officials talks in Islamabad.

The resolve was expressed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Myanmar's Foreign Minister Than Swe at the outset of delegation-level talks held at the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Monday.  

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq said Pakistan deeply values its longstanding friendship and cooperation with Myanmar. He noted that their bilateral ties are rooted in history and mutual respect.

Ishaq Dar said Pakistan is keen to strengthen its bilateral relations with Myanmar in areas of mutual interest through sustained and structured engagement and result-oriented initiatives.

The Deputy Prime Minister said Pakistan sincerely desires peace, stability and prosperity for Myanmar and hopes the forthcoming general elections will contribute to stability, development and inclusive governance.  

In his remarks, the Foreign Minister of Myanmar said his country will work together with Pakistan for promotion of cooperation in different sectors. He expressed the confidence that this meeting will pave the way for future cooperation.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar Than Swe, upon his arrival at Foreign Office, was warmly welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
