ICC fines Suryakumar Yadav and Haris Rauf for breaching code of conduct

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has handed down penalties to Indian and Pakistani players following incidents during the Asia Cup clash, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.  

Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav has been found guilty of a Level 1 offense and fined 30% of his match fee.

The ICC rejected his "not guilty" plea, officially declaring his actions a "found breach" of the code of conduct.

His remarks referring to the military were found to violate cricket’s disciplinary regulations, leading the ICC to declare him “found guilty.”

Meanwhile, disciplinary proceedings were also concluded against Pakistan’s Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan.

According to Indian sports media, Haris Rauf was fined a portion of his match fee and issued a warning for making hand gestures during the match.

Sahibzada Farhan, however, escaped financial penalty but was cautioned for waving his bat in a celebratory gesture resembling a gun salute.

The ICC categorized the actions of both Pakistani cricketers as Level One offences.

During the hearing, Haris Rauf defended himself when questioned by match referee Richie Richardson about repeatedly making a “0-6” hand signal.

Rauf explained that the gesture was directed only towards the spectators and carried no other meaning.

Richardson countered that the Indian cricket board believed the gesture implied something else.

 Rauf responded firmly, asking whether it was for him or the board to define the intent behind his signal.

Sahibzada Farhan also presented his explanation, saying that gun-style celebrations were part of his cultural tradition, especially during moments of joy.

He further pointed out that similar acts had been performed by former Indian captains MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli in the past.

The referee maintained that the gesture, in the charged atmosphere of the match, appeared to target the opposition, which was why it had been deemed objectionable by the Indian board.

After concluding the hearings, the ICC announced that Yadav and Rauf would be fined and warned, while Farhan would face only a caution.
