Unprecedented increase in driving license fee

The Punjab government has decided to make an unprecedented increase in the driving license fee for the upcoming year, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

According to the traffic police officials, the Punjab government increased the learner driving license fee from Rs60 per five years to Rs500 per year.

Moreover, the fee will be charged annually instead of paying after five years, the officials added.

The five-year fee for a motorcar-jeep license was Rs950, but now Rs.1800 per year will be charged.

The five-year fee for heavy transport was 450 and now Rs2000 has to be paid every year.

The five-year license fee for disabled persons was fixed at Rs20 which now have been abolished.

The five-year fee for public service vehicles was fixed at 450 which now will be Rs1500 per year.

The driving license fee for the remaining categories has been increased from Rs100 to Rs1000.

The license fees were increased up to 1000% after 20 years.

New fees will be applicable in Punjab from 1st January 2024, traffic police officials.
