The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif’s request to allow him to cast vote for the Senate elections in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Quoting sources, the TV channel reported that the ECP had clearly told Shehbaz Sharif that nobody could be allowed to cast votes outside the National Assembly (NA) hall, and that Shehbaz and other legislators currently in prison could only cast their votes inside the NA hall.
The Election Commission of Pakistan had already issued production orders for imprisoned members of the national and provincial assemblies so that they could be a part of the voting process for the Senate election scheduled for March 3.
