Shanto 'disappointed' as rain washes out Pakistan-Bangladesh clash

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said he was disappointed after rain washed out the ICC Champions Trophy match against Pakistan.

Reacting to the decision that Pakistan and Bangladesh will share one point each, Shanto said, "I am very disappointed. We really wanted to play this match, but can't do anything about the weather."

He said, "The way we held the game for long periods of the game was very inspiring for us in the two matches. We hope we can learn from our mistakes. We will make a proper plan and execute the plan."

About his team's bowling options, Shanto said, "We have always struggled with our fast bowling unit, but in the last few years a lot of fast bowlers are coming through. Some of the fats bowlers back home are doing very well. The likes of Taskin, Rana coming in . Fizz is there. We have a very good bowling attack. I hope they will do the job and do the best for the team."

Referring to rotation in the middle, he said, "I have to practice properly in the nets. We have to think about strike rotation. It is very important and I hope the boys will understand what we need to do."

Pakistan and Bangladesh on Thursday ended their disappointing Champions Trophy campaigns with a point each with the second successive match in Rawalpindi washed out. As on Tuesday, when the same fate befell the Australia-South Africa game from Group B, the match was called off without even the toss taking place.
