Maryam asks Justice Azmat to quit Broadsheet probe body

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday blasted the PTI government for appointed Justice (retd) Azmat Saeed as head of the committee to probe the Broadsheet issue and alleged, while referring to Panama Leaks case against Nawaz Sharif, that the former judge was part of the conspiracy against the then elected government.

Maryam Nawaz also said that Khokhar brothers were being made to pay the price for their loyalty to Nawaz Sharif, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to the media at Khokhar Palace in Lahore on Wednesday where she had gone to express solidarity with Malik Afzal Khokhar and Saiful Malook Khokhar whose homes had been demolished by the authorities a few days back for allegedly building these on state-owned land, Maryam said had there been justice in the country Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence would have been razed to the ground first.

“I have come here on the instructions of Nawaz Sharif. The government is afraid of us as well as Khokhar brothers,” she said, and added the demolition of Khokhar brothers’ houses was an act of political victimization.

“Khokhar brothers were pressured to leave the PML-N. But when they refused their homes were bulldozed,” she alleged.

She said attempts were being made to crack PML-N for the past four years, but in vain. “The government which is supposed to concentrate on people’s welfare is busy settling scores with the PML-N instead,” she deplored.

PML-N questioned as to how Justice (r) Sheikh Azmat Saeed could do justice in Broadsheet case when he himself was involved in the Broadsheet ‘conspiracy’. “Making him head of the committee probing Broadsheet case speaks for government’s mala fide intent,” she alleged.

Maryam advised Justice (r) Azmat Saeed to step down as the head of an inquiry committee probing the Broadsheet scandal. Maryam said that he was one of the pioneers of Panama “fake JIT”.

“You have to give answers that how you people and your officials are using public money and involved in corruption,” Maryam said, adding that the officials of the ruling PTI sat with Moussavi and demanded their own share. “They are looting public money. You [Imran Khan] are equally responsible and you will be held responsible,” she added.

She stated that Justice (retired) Sheikh Azmat Saeed was member of the governing body of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital.

“Sheikh Azmat Saeed should excuse from being part of this,” said Maryam Nawaz, warning that the PML-N would expose him for his influence he used being judge of the Supreme Court.

She also criticized the PTI government for high inflation and poor governance. “This is government is enemy of itself even if we give it five-year time of rule,” she added.

Imran Khan should mortgage "Bani Gala" instead of mortgaging Islamabad club. "The government has failed to break PDM," she added.

The PTI government will not succeed in dividing the opposition parties, she said, adding PTI is a one-man show party and that the scandals of incumbent government’s corruption are being exposed.

“Every political party in Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has its own mandate and agenda. PDM is an alliance of opposition parties to run a campaign against the PTI government. Those who have occupied PM House and Pakistan are biggest mafias," she said.

Responding to a question, she said discussion will be carried out during PDM session on no-confidence motion against the premier. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto will put forward his suggestions in the meeting, she added.

Maryam further said the government won’t be able to complete its five years due to its ineffective policies and incompetent leaders. “This government itself is mafia –a land mafia and I came know that Imran Khan personally kept monitoring this operation,” said Maryam.

“PTI leadership should focus on its own party because tough time is coming their way,” said the PML-N leader. She stated whenever these PTI leaders went outside to the public places they faced huge backlash and anger of the public.
