Chohan released on bail after being detained briefly

A court has accepted the bail application of PTI MPA Nazir Ahmad Chohan issuing the order for his release, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The court also ordered Mr Chohan to submit surety bonds worth Rs 100,000.

The PTI MPA was presented before the Cantt Court on Tuesday. Though earlier he was sent to jail after a court granted his judicial remand. But later, the Cantt Court accepted his bail application and ordered for his release. 

Mr Chohan’s lawyers filed a bail application to the Cantt Court. 

Earlier, the Lahore police arrested Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf MPA Nazir Ahmad Chohan on the complaint of Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability and Interior Shehzad Akbar.

Reportedly, the police registered a case against PTI MPA Chohan on the complaint of PM’s Special Assistant on Accountability & Interior Akbar. On Tuesday, police arrested the MPA and said that his voice would be matched by the FIA for the assessment of its originality.

The Jehangir Tareen group showed its bafflement at the arrest of MPA Chohan. It has decided to a call a meeting of the group members on the issue.

The arrested MPA has been shifted to the FIA cybercrime cell.

Chohan was elected on the PTI ticket from the PP-167 constituency.

SAPM Akbar lodged a complaint with the Race Course police station, Lahore on May 20 against Chohan stating that Chohan had levelled false accusations against him in a TV talk show.

“These accusations may put my life in danger,” Shahzad said, and added, “And since the purpose of levelling allegations against me was to discourage me from conducting the probe into corruption cases, therefore strict action be taken against member of the JKT group.”

Later, while announcing the registration of a case against MPA Nazir Ahmad Chohan in a tweet, SAPM Mirza Shahzad Akbar said that those using the ‘religion card’ had no place in people’s hearts.

Federal Minister for Information Chaudhry Fawad Hussain had also voiced his opposition to calling Shahzad Akbar a ‘Qadiyani’.

In a tweet, he said the SAPM was performing his duties well. “Using religion card for personal interests is condemnable,” he said, and demanded Lahore police take strict action against Chohan.
