Nurses rally for job regularisation in Quetta
The Young Nurses Association Balochistan (YNAB) Quetta chapter Tuesday held a protest against termination of their contracts and raised the demand for job regularisation from the provincial, reported 24News HD TV channel.
The protesters tried to march to the Chief Minister House but the police stopped them and arrested the association’s president, secretary, and several others. The YNAB protesters staged a sit-in at the DC Office Chowk and announced a boycott in all public hospitals across the province of Balochistan.
Nurses claimed that their ‘Dopatay’ (veils) were pulled by the police and they were forcefully thrown out of the Red-Zone area. Protesters were not only chanting slogans against their termination of contacts but also demanded the provincial government that they should be regularised.
Earlier in the ongoing month, nurses staged a protest a at Quetta’s Civil Hospital where Malik Aziz Kakar, YNAB President, told the media that 260 of his colleagues, who had been hired on a six-year contract, had been fired despite performing their duties even during the coronavirus pandemic. He said that hundreds of nurses were without pay for six months and complained that the high-ups were dismissing the medics.
