Pervaiz Elahi files bail plea in money laundering case

Following refusal by a judicial magistrate to give physical remand of former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in a money laundering case, Elahi filed a bail application in a banking court on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The court also issued a notice to the FIA in the case.

FIA moves court against magistrate’s verdict:

Earlier, the FIA filed a petition in a sessions court against the magistrate’s refusal to grant physical remand of former Punjab chief minister.

The Agency, in its petition, argued that the magistrate did not take into account the facts while pronouncing the verdict. “And since the case needs to be investigated, therefore it is prayed to the court to declare the magistrate’s decision null and void,” the petition read.

Consequently, the court issued a notice in which it sought answer from the respondent by July 4.
