Muhammad Sajjad and Naimat Mumtaz win Karachi's Lok Sahitya 10km race
Sajjad completes 10km race in 35 minutes and seven seconds: Naimat Mumtaz wins women’s race in 45 minutes and 20 seconds
Muhammad Sajjad won the Lok Sahitya 10km race held at Sea View in Karachi after completing the distance in 35 minutes and seven seconds.
Sajjad, an athlete from the Defence Housing Authority, secured first place in the men’s race. Muhammad Ali finished second, while Muhammad Riaz of Sukkur took third position.
In the women’s category, Pakistan Navy athlete Naimat Mumtaz claimed first place after completing the 10km distance in 45 minutes and 20 seconds.
Natasha Hassan finished second, while Kainat Khalil secured third position.
The event was attended by Sindh Sports Secretary Munawar Ali Mahesar as the chief guest. He distributed prizes among the participating athletes.
Cash prizes worth millions of rupees were distributed among the top 10 athletes in the race.
Speaking at the event, Mahesar said the organisation of sports events was a welcome development and that the Sindh government would continue to support young people.
Deputy Inspector General Pir Muhammad Shah said it was important to encourage athletes and added that support from Lok Sahitya was helping new talent emerge.
