Twin earthquakes struck Gilgit Baltistan within eight minutes of each other injuring a few people late Monday night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

There were reports of some damage in the Rondhu area of Gilgit Baltistan. A woman and a security guard were also injured in the quakes.

An FC soldier was injured after he was hit by a stone uprooted by the quake on Karakoram Highway while a woman was reported injured in Astore.

The first quake jolted the GB region at 12:41 am while the second hit eight minutes later at 12:49 am.

GB Chief Minister has issued directives putting on alert all the rescue institutions.
