A young man died when a kite string slit his throat open in Lahore on Sunday, indicating police total helplessness in eradicating the menace completely, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Nineteen-year-old Assad, a resident of Mushtaf Colony, was going to his home on his motorcycle when the kite string cut him to death on Shalimar Link Road.

It may be mentioned here that the government has outlawed kite flying and the use of metallic strings as the sport has claimed so many lives across the country. The sports became dangerous when the kite flyers started using metallic strings for flying their kites.

Taking notice of the dangers associated with this sport, the government strictly prohibited the flying of kites in populated areas and the use of metallic strings and aerial firing which the jubilant kite flyers indulge in when they succeed in cutting the string of another kite flyer.
