Weekly inflation rises by 0.73pc
Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has said that the weekly inflation rate has jumped by 0.73%, while annual inflation reached 4.32 percent.
The report said sugar prices in various cities ranging between Rs179 and Rs220 per kg. During the past week, prices of 14 essential commodities rose, while 12 items recorded a decrease. The prices of 25 essential goods remained stable.
Items that became more expensive included moong dal, ghee, cooking oil, and powdered milk. Sugar, jaggery, beef, electricity, LPG, cigarettes, and firewood also saw price hikes. The report added that electricity tariffs for lower-income consumers rose by more than 11%. Meanwhile, tomatoes became cheaper by 28%, onions by 10%, and potatoes by up to 4.58%. Salt, chana dal, garlic, eggs, and flour were also among the items that saw price reductions.
