Rules and regulations have been devised for the payment of higher education allowance to the school teachers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday. 

According to these rules, a teacher, who has done both MPhil and PhD will be entitled to just one allowance, while there will be no allowance for the teachers receiving advance increment on the basis of their MPhil an PhD degrees. 

It is pertinent to mention here that school teachers doing MPhil and PhD receive additional allowances of Rs5, 000 and Rs10, 000, respectively. 

In this connection, the School Education Department has issued directives to the concerned officials for the selection of competent teachers. 

The department has also made it clear that legal action will be taken against the teachers receiving the allowance by bypassing the rules.
