Govt seeks record of dual nationality among officers

The federal government has initiated a comprehensive exercise to collect data of government officers holding dual citizenship, in what officials describe as a major administrative decision.

According to sources, authorities have begun compiling complete records of officers from Grade 17 and above, seeking detailed information for submission to the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet.

The requested data includes names of officers with dual nationality, along with their parents’ names, national identity card numbers, service groups, ex-cadre status, current departments and present postings.

Sources added that information regarding the officers’ current grades and the dates on which they acquired citizenship of any country other than Pakistan is also being gathered.

Officials said the move aims to present a complete picture of dual nationality within the civil service to the committee, which had formally sought these details.

The development is being seen as a step toward reviewing policies concerning dual citizenship among government officials, with possible warnings or further actions expected based on the findings.
