Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the public relief and subsidies for motorcyclists will continue in collaboration with the provinces, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

Speaking at the federal cabinet meeting, the PM said that it was due to the efforts made by Field Marshal Asim Munir that the ceasefire between Iran and the US was extended.

He said that the Field Marshal made untiring efforts for peace in the Gulf. “Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi also wholeheartedly supported the efforts aimed at brokering a ceasefire between the two countries,” he added.

The prime minister said that Pakistan made since efforts for peace in the region.

He further said that prices of crude oil went up due to the situation, arising out of the US-Iran war.

Shehbaz Sharif said our austerity and conservation measures are continuing. He noted that our fuel consumption has dropped significantly as compared to previous weeks. He expressed satisfaction over the availability and supply of petroleum products in the country.

He announced that the government would continue to offer subsidies to motorcyclists in collaboration with provinces besides taking other measures to provide relief to people in the wake of situation in the Gulf.

PM Shehbaz thanked Saudi crown prince for helping Pakistan deal with economic challenges. "Pakistan has repaid over $3 billion in loan," he informed.
