Two coal miners died while three suffered injuries after the roof of a coal mine caved in on them in Matan Kalan area of Chakwal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The rescue teams were carrying out rescue operation at the incident site to retrieve the bodies under the debris.

Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi took the notice of the incident and instructed Commissioner Rawalpindi Division and RPO Rawalpindi to reach the incident site.

Furthermore, CM Naqvi asked the Punjab chief secretary for a report on the incident and ordered the authorities to speed up relief efforts.

“All resources should be used to pull out the workers trapped in the mine,” said Mohsen Naqvi.

While expressing his sorrow over the demise of two miners, he sought an inquiry report of the incident within 72 hours. 

He also condoled with the families of deceased and directed administration to provide the injured with best medical treatment.
