No Authority to regulate over 3,000 courier companies in Pakistan

Despite mushroomed growth of courier companies in the country, no authority has been set up to regulate their affairs, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Sources told the 24News TV channel that presently there are over 3,000 courier companies in the country.

Even Pakistan Post does not have the data of these companies.

There is no Authority which could check how much amount these companies charge from customers and how much tax they pay.

They only get themselves registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and start working.

Sources disclosed that the SECP did not share with the Pakistan Post data about these companies.

Furthermore, these companies start working without getting an NOC from the Pakistan Post.

On the other hand, the federal minister for communications, too, has confirmed that neither is there data on these companies nor any body exists to regulate them.
