Trump calls poll showing record-low approval rating ‘fake’

US President Donald Trump has rejected a recent poll showing his approval rating falling to the lowest level of his presidency, calling the survey “fake” and accusing the media of misleading the public.

According to a foreign news agency, Trump criticised what he described as “corrupt media” and said fake polls had become out of control and that action should be taken against them.

Rejecting the findings of polls critical of his performance, Trump said such surveys could mislead the American public.

 He also urged the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to take notice of the issue and take necessary action against what he called fake polls.

A four-day online survey released last week found that only 33% of Americans approved of Trump’s performance, while 64% disapproved.

The result represented the lowest approval rating recorded for Trump during his current presidency.

The survey also found widespread concern over the possibility of prolonged US involvement in the conflict with Iran.

 About 80% of respondents said they believed US involvement in Iran would continue for a long time.

The figure included 87% of Democrats and 71% of Republicans.

Only 16% of those surveyed believed the conflict would end within a few weeks.

Trump has repeatedly criticised opinion polls that show declining support for his administration, while questioning the credibility of media organisations that publish them.
