Punjab halting funds for deceased teachers’ families

The Punjab government has halted funds for financial help of the families of teachers who died during service, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
According to sources, the provincial government has withheld Rs2 billion financial support fund allocated for the heirs of deceased government teachers. The halt has left the relatives of the deceased in the lurch.
According to documents of Punjab School Education Department, authorities have not been able to get the funds released for the past three years.
The insiders said the Punjab School Education Department made a number of requests to the Finance Department and the Punjab chief minister too but to no avail.
