Sindh receives its first winnter rain

Sindh province received its first winter showers intermittently on Monday as a westerly wave lashed the Noriabad and Kathore areas and are expected to remain here till Wednesday, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

A Met department official explained that coming from neighboring Iran, the westerly winds after passing over Balochistan on Friday and Saturday and reached Sindh province on Monday evening.

The Meteorological Department suggests that this rainy spell might persist until Wednesday, potentially altering the region's weather dynamics.

Across the country, successive western weather systems are making their way, as indicated by the Meteorological Department.

 In addition to the ongoing weather pattern, a fresh westerly wave is expected to penetrate Balochistan on February 2.

The impending weather system in February is anticipated to impact central and upper Sindh, ushering in a period of precipitation, according to the Meteorological Department's forecasts.

This development has prompted various precautionary measures by local authorities and residents alike, aimed at mitigating potential damages and ensuring public safety amidst the changing weather conditions.

Likewise, the Meteorological Department predicts significant rain and snowfall over mountainous landscapes, impacting key areas including Islamabad, the Pothohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), northern Balochistan, Kashmir, and surrounding hilly terrains.

Simultaneously, a forecast of shallow to moderate fog looms over select plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh, raising caution for commuters and residents alike.
