In a big decision pronounced against the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) after seven long years, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday declared the commercialization fee being charged at Jail Road, Gulberg and Model Town areas of the provincial capital ‘illegal’, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Justice Ayesha A. Malik gave the verdict on 73 petitions filed against the fee in LHC between 2014 and 2020.

The judge had reserved a verdict in the case in December 2020.

In the decision, Justice Ayesha writes that as per LDA Rules, 2020 collecting fee on the already approved commercial roads was illegal.
