Federal Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid on Saturday said that the then cabinet including Nawaz Sharif was against conducting nuclear tests and it was him, Raja Zafarul Haq and Gohar Ayub who went all out for the nuclear detonations.
Addressing a news conference in Lahore, Sheikh Rashid said that the next 90 days are very important in politics. He said that even the treasury would never be forgiven, he added.
He claimed, “I, Raja Zafarul Haq and Gohar Ayub were responsible for the nuclear blasts. I want to tell the nation that the then cabinet including Nawaz Sharif was against the nuclear tests.”
Sheikh Rashid said Prime Minister Imran Khan will not spare sugar and flour thieves. Shehbaz Sharif has decided to go to jail, the minister added.
He said Pakistan Railways is operating 40 trains out of 142 and he would not operate the remaining 100 trains till the coronavirus would not be controlled.
It is interesting to mention that after on the eve of the nuclear tests in 1998, Sheikh Rashid said he rushed out of the country to Dubai.
In an interview with a private TV channel, Sheikh Rashid then said he was so horrified by the ongoing nuclear bomb developments that he fled away to Dubai to avoid any untoward incident. “I was so horrified that I did not sleep at that night. I took same-day flight to Dubai just before the nuclear tests were conducted. I knew about the information at what time these had to be conducted. So I took a flight and only returned after I came to know the next day that the tests had been conducted and it is safe to return,” Sheikh Rashid said.
