Lollywood's legendary film director Agha Hasan Askari passes away

A legendary film director of Lollywood Agha Hasan Askari alias Agha Gee passed away at the age of 78 in Shiekh Zayed Hospital in Lahore on Monday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Agha Gee introduced Sultan Rahi in a Punjabi character of Maula Jatt and his Gandasa (a chopper that looks like a long-handled weapon) in his trend-setting film Maula Jutt.
He was suffering from lung cancer and was admitted to hospital. He left behind him a widow, a son and a daughter. The funeral prayer will be offered tomorrow at Hasan Askari's residence, 3B Alamgir Street, Islamia Park, Poonch Road, near Dera Haji Mehboob Lahore.
Hasan Askari was a great director of Urdu-Punjabi films. He started his film career as an assistant to legendary director Kafi in the Punjabi films Chan Makhanaan and Sajan Pyara. After that, he joined the film unit of Tariq Masood Qureshi and his first film as a director was Khun Pasina which had Lala Sudhir as a hero while Firdous, Mazhar Shah, Sultan Rahi, Agha Talish also appeared in it in different roles.
Hasan Askari's memorable films are included Tofan, Wehshi Jutt, Salakhain, Duriyaan, Sher Dil, Putar Jaggay Da, Qanoon, Dil Kisi Ka Dost Nahin, Tere Pyaar Main, Heera, Sar Dhar Di Baazi, Ghairet Da Nishan, Akhri Maidan, Muft Ber, Jat Da Karrak, Aag, Kanarah, Jenay Ki Saza, Akbar Khan, Mela, Ek Dojay Key Liye, Hum and Tum, Be-Qarar, Ek Si Dakoo, Do Hathkariyaan, Najat, Talash, Sonay Ki Talash, Mafroor, Qatal, Riyaz Gujjar, Pattan, Gundasa, Sher Baz Khan, Abdullah the Great, Acha Sugar Wala, Irada, Be-Taj Badshah, Khazana, Jenay Do, Do Geedar, Janat Ki Talash, Chaudharani, Passion, Kahaan Hey Qanoon, Chalo Ishq Larain, Bahu Bhamsim, Eik Jagah Hor, Sassi Punnu, Varyam, Jan Hatheli Paar, Basanti, Dil Prai Des Mein, and Dasan (Pashto).

CM Naqvi, Amir Mir's condolence

Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Provincial Information Minister Amir Mir expressed their regret over the death of a legendary film director and writer Agha Hasan Askari.
CM Naqvi and Amir Mir expressed their heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family in his condolence message.
They prayed may Allah Almighty rest the soul of the deceased and give patience to the bereaved family.
