Associate Prof moves SHC against ‘illegal appointments’ in Karachi University
An associate professor has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against “illegal appointments” in the Marine Biology Research Center of Karachi University, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the hearing, petitioner Dr Umar Rashid appeared in the court on Friday.
However, the court adjourned the hearing for two weeks due to the absence of the defence’s lawyer.
The petitioner submitted that four associate professors have been recruited in the Marine Biology Department against the rules.
Despite the court order, the petitioner was not promoted to the next grade.
In 2016, the then Chief Justice Sajjad Shah had ordered his promotion, he told the court, adding 11 years had passed but the court order has not yet been implemented.
The current Vice Chancellor has recruited four associate professors in Marine Biology before he exits.
The Higher Education Commission has twice prohibited these recruitments.
The advertisement given for the recruitments has been cancelled by the HEC.
